Tattoo Cover Ups --The Trade Off
Doing tattoo cover ups is a growing trend in the tattooing trade. Tattoo cover ups are a means of removing an unwanted tattoo in trade for a fresh new tattoo design over existing ink. The trade off with tattoo cover-ups is they come with a few tattooing disadvantages: size “does” matter, cover-ups are a “one and done” deal, and plan to "show the money" for the trade.

Because it is virtually impossible to cover up something black with something yellow, or any other color for that matter, tattoo artists are forced to work with ink pigments that are darker than the original ink. A very dark tattoo needs to be covered with a new tattoo design equally or darker than the old tattoo.
The process of getting tattoo cover ups vs. getting regular tattoos is generally more expensive because cover ups require the tattoo artist to “over ink the skin” to insure the new tattoo ink takes on a state of permanency, and does not allow for the old tattoo to bleed through and become visible.
